Contour Motion Estimation from Image Sequences UsingCurvature

چکیده
This paper presents a novel method of velocity eld estimation for the points on moving contours in a 2-D image sequence. The method determines the corresponding point in a next image frame by considering the curvature change of a given point on the contour. In traditional methods, there are errors in optical ow estimation for the points which have low curvature variations since those methods compute solutions by approximating normal optical ow. The proposed method computes optical ow vectors of contour points minimizing the curvature changes. As a rst step, snakes are used to locate smooth curves in 2-D imagery. Thereafter, the extracted curves are tracked continuously. Each point on a contour has a unique corresponding point on the contour in the next frame whenever the curvature distribution of the contour varies smoothly. The experimental results showed that the proposed method computes accurate optical ow vectors for various moving contours.

Integrating region and boundary information for spatiallycoherent object tracking
The problem of segmenting image sequences based on 2D motion has been under study for many years now. Most early approaches were either region-based, doing some sort of robust motion estimation, or boundary-based, preferring instead to track the bounding contours of the moving image region. In this paper, we explore an approach based on a synergy between these two previous approaches. For examp...

In this paper we present a contour tracker on echographic image sequences. To do this, we use a hierarchical approach: we first compute a global estimation of the ventricular motion. Then we use a fine tuning algorithm to adjust the detection of the ventricular wall. The global estimation is based on a parametric motion model with a small number of parameters. This allows us to compute the moti...

Two moving segment detection problems in image sequences of road scenes under egomotion are discussed: the classiication of image contours into moving or stationary and the 3{D object motion estimation. In both cases two solution classes are compared. The approaches of the rst class (bottom{up, application{independent) are searching for image feature correspondence in subsequent images. The sec...
